Potential online marketing audience reaches 1bn

New statistics have revealed that over one billion global consumers now use the internet.

According to comScore, the one billion mark was reached in December last year, with the Asia Pacific region accounting for the largest proportion of internet users.

It was followed by the regions of Europe, North America, Latin America and the Middle East and Africa, while China was the biggest online country overall in December.

China boasted almost 180 million web users, compared with 163.3 million in the US, 59.9 million in Japan, 36.9 million in Germany and 36.6 million in the UK.

The most visited websites by all global web users consisted of those run by Google, Microsoft and Yahoo! - indicating the potentially large internet marketing audience available for advertisers to tap into via search marketing.

Magid Abraham, president and chief executive of comScore, stated: "The second billion will be online before we know it and the third billion will arrive even faster than that until we have a truly global network of interconnected people and ideas that transcend borders and cultural boundaries."

There are now nearly 185 million sites on the web, according to Netcraft.

God of War Chains of Olympus

A Bestseller in Play Station games... i extracted these details for your eyes..

Before he waged war on the gods...he was forced to serve them
The third game in the God of War franchise, God of War: Chains of Olympus for PlayStation Portable is a prequel to the first two games in the series published for PlayStation 2, and true the high standards of God of War and God of War II, not only does it equal the efforts of its predecessors, in some ways it may even surpass them.

Explore Kratos' story from the beginning
Kratos on the shores of Attica.

The Blades of Chaos in action.

Kratos’ Story
The God of War franchise tells the tragic and violent story of the warrior Kratos and his dealings with the gods. The ancient world would eventually both praise and damn the infamous ‘Ghost of Sparta’ as the mortal who slayed a god, but long before his battle with Ares, Kratos sought absolution from his past sins by pledging himself as a champion to the gods. These brutal crusades in the name of Olympus became legendary, but would have far-reaching consequences.

In Chains of Olympus Kratos is pushed to the edge as he is ordered by the gods to journey to the very depths of the underworld after the world plunges into darkness. There he must face the most feared creatures of Greek mythology and is forced to choose between his own personal redemption and saving the ancient world from certain destruction. It is a choice that will shake the immortals from their perches on Mt. Olympus.

God of War's Epic Gameplay Comes to the PSP
PlayStation Portable has always been head and shoulders above its competitors in the handheld market when it comes to processing power, and in God of War: Chains of Olympus the PSP platform may just have reached its highest level to date. Packed with features like dramatic camera angles, epic set pieces, cinematic cut scenes, stirring audio and seamless fast action gameplay, formerly only available on console platforms Chains of Olympus binds players to the game’s epic adventure, regardless where they are when they join in the action.

Combat Moves, Both Old and New
Nearly as defining as the name of Kratos itself, the trademark sweeping attack moves of the ‘Ghost of Sparta’ using his weapon of choice the ‘Blades of Chaos,’ epitomizes all God of War games and Chains of Olympus is no exception.

Although overall the PSP has fewer buttons than the PlayStation 2 controller, developer Ready at Dawn Studios has managed to incorporate nearly all of the attack moves and combination moves from previous games in the series into this new project. This continuity in gameplay not only provides a seamless intro into the game for veteran players, but a gentle learning curve for players new to the series. Add to this new brutal combat moves and an additional upgradable weapon and you have a combat system that will engage players at all levels.

Exploration and Puzzle Solving
From the bright gates of Attica to the darkest dungeons of Tartarus, Kratos’ journey and your own will take you through the dark and brutal world of Greek mythology. Here not only will your skill with the Blades of Chaos be tested, but your wits as well.

As you explore the dangers of the ancient world, players must be prepared to use their navigational skills as they press on through labyrinths of challenging puzzles. Some may be simple tests at manipulating the game’s environment to your advantage, while others much more difficult also requiring precision timing of moves, but each will be different and test you in new ways.

An Evolution in Franchise History
More than just a missing piece in the history of the God of War franchise, Chains of Olympus also serves as an evolutionary link between the origins of the God of War franchise and its future.

Originally developed for PlayStation 2, the future of the franchise is slated to make its arrival on PlayStation 3 in the form of the highly anticipated God of War III in the not too distant future. Not only is PlayStation Portable designed to work in unison with PlayStation 3 in many ways, but both long-time fans and newcomers to the series who choose to watch and play Chains of Olympus carefully may very well pick up clues as to the direction the franchise will be heading in with God of War III.

Regardless, whether you find yourself playing for the current chapter in Kratos’ saga or preparing yourself for the battles to come on the PlayStation 3, God of War: Chains of Olympus is a must have title for any current owner of a PSP or those considering getting in the handheld game with one.

Product Description
In God of War, Kratos, after being deceived into killing his wife and daughter, denounced his service to Ares. In order to seek absolution from his past sins, the Ghost of Sparta pledged himself as a champion to the Gods for the years to follow. These brutal crusades, in the name of Olympus, became legendary throughout the ancient world.

In God of War: Chains of Olympus, Kratos will journey to lands that no mortal has ever walked upon. With the world plunged in eternal darkness and the Gods rendered powerless, Kratos will face the most feared creatures of Greek Mythology, and ultimately be forced to choose between his own personal redemption and saving the ancient world from certain destruction.

Developed from the outset as an original story, God of War: Chains of Olympus delivers highly detailed graphics, incredible animation detail and yet another adventure in the dark and brutal world of Greek mythology that fans of the God of War franchise have come to know and love. Critically-Acclaimed Franchise - Brought to you by Sony Computer Entertainment America and two award-winning development teams - Santa Monica Studios and Ready At Dawn Studios

Cellphone Shipments Drop 10 Percent In Q4; Nokia Down, Samsung Up

So the economic downturn is really hurting the cellphone industry..

A lot of the predictions that warned the holiday period would be less than stellar came true: Only 295 million cellphones were shipped worldwide during the period, falling 10 percent from 329 million units in the year-ago period, according to Strategy Analytics, which releases one of the most thorough reports each quarter. The report came out late Thursday night following Samsung's earnings. It concluded that the fourth quarter was the weakest period since 2001 with handset sales increasing only 5 percent in 2008 to 1.18 billion.

Here's the breakdown:

Nokia (NYSE: NOK) still the largest: Nokia shipped 113 million handsets worldwide in Q4 2008, down 15 percent from 2007. Nokia lost marketshare due to weakness in China and in the smartphone segment. Its global marketshare plunged to 31 percent in Q4 from 47 percent in Q4 2007.

Samsung the standout: Samsung performed best during the quarter, grabbing an 18 percent global marketshare. It sold 53 million handsets worldwide in Q4. A breadth of handsets and wider distribution channels contributed. Still, Samsung failed to meet its own target of selling 200 million units for the full-year.

LG Electronics (SEO: 066570) rises to third: LG shipped 26 million handsets worldwide in Q4 2008, and returned to the third position. LG surpassed 100 million units for the full-year for the first time in its history, but failed to be profitable during the quarter and its operating margin slipped to its lowest level for six quarters.

Sony (NYSE: SNE) Ericsson (NSDQ: ERIC) retracts: It sold 24.2 million handsets globally in Q4 2008, falling 21 percent annually. Sony Ericsson recorded its worst profit performance since 2003.

Recovery for Motorola (NYSE: MOT) in 2009: In fifth place, it's possible that a fresh pipeline of new handsets will help Motorola in 2009 because Motorola shipped only 19 million handsets worldwide in Q4, falling from 41 million units a year earlier.

Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) growth slows: Apple shipped 4.4 million handsets in Q4, which is up from a year earlier when it shipped 2.3 million, however, its annual growth rate slipped to 88 percent, which is much lower than the 516 percent in Q3.

Save Palestine...

connection Speed..

Do you have this issue with Celcom broadband? like what the obnoxious mom write regarding streamyx poor service? Well, few months ago i would like to dedicate the same bangau-oh bangau song to Celcom..but i have notice some improvement with my connection speed..

please improve further...i pay for 348kbs i need it to be at least 320kbs..

Your Internet most heroic moment..

I remember after twenty days of hard works, open my mail and receive an email from internet marketing center and they said..

Congratulations! You Have made a sale...! - from IMC, Internet Marketing Centre.I would say, that is the best moment in my life.. normally selling a product online is not an easy task unless you are an expert in your niche or well known for that.

Especially product for internet marketing solutions. There are millions out there. From Derek Gehl, to Ewen Chia, Joel Comm, Mark Joyner and thousands of other. 9but these are considered th big player in the Online Marketing World.

I feel like a hero and to me, it is a big achievement. Consider getting USD125 in single sale.. converted to Ringgit Malaysia..it is about RM450+. At that time, it was a year and a month back in November 2007. The best thing is, i received the check immidiately after my wife and twin baby boy arrive home for the first time after giving birth 2 days earlier.

It's like double bonus..nope...triple bonus and joy..I had twins! They are now sleeping in the living room, while i write this in the kitchen table. What i do that time was actually, i do a lot of article marketing. Especially in Ezinearticle and Articlebase.com i remember, making the last effort to repair my adwords campaign. There was only $2 dollars in that campaign left.

And i remember, my internet marketing centre affiliate link was only clicked about 28 times. 28 clicks and 1 sale with the profit of USD125..is a huge success! a very hgh conversion rate and remember, with only USD2 left for adwords promotion. But things happen, when it wants to happen. When God wants it to happen by His Will.

Another way of looking at the success is you don't actually need to spend so much on Adwords, which now, after i've gain 260+ clicks, still there is hardly any sales. Why does this happen? My Amazin watch site is also only doing well in certain seasons. But i do have pending payment amounting to only about USD36.00 left from Amazon Associates.

From my experience, i agree that marketing is the most important part rather than the painstaking first step in setting up your website.

Yes, Internet marketing requires a lot of effort and time. And you get frustrated easily. And you do get lucky sometimes. But i believe with proper planning and determination, anything could be possible.

My only advise it :- Set up a website, consistently produce and publish good original content everyday, republish the article in ezine, setup hover ad sort of opt-in, and do consistent marketing.

Oh, before i forget, i manage to Sell IMC Mailloop to one customer, a email marketing software which cost around USD395.

One thing i like about becoming IMC is affiliate is because they pay us well. Even in second tier stage.

Their product is based on 60 million of sales experienced and research. What more can you ask in a product.

Derek is a good man and friend. He Went to Singapore once and Malaysia.. Just that, i wasn't able to attend His seminar because of certain job i have to attend.

Though i did not make that much with IMC now...(prior) to my business, but i do belive IMC is still the leading company that you can trust and work with to acieve your first check and maybe the first 10K in internet marketing.

They have the internet most trusted and reliable product which is consistently upgrade. Based on its sales volumes of 60 millions in Sales profit worldwide, you must become an affiliate with IMC - Internet Marketing Centre.

Well, this is just my experince. Anyway, like i said earlier... it is unpredictable and anyone can achieve the same success like i did...Big Fat Cheque or just enough to pay for your rides.

Join IMC Affiliate Today..

Gaza: Worse than a crime

Gwynne Dyer I Arab News

ISRAEL is not going to show restraint,” Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni told the Washington Post on Saturday, after the United States abstained on Friday’s UN Security Council resolution calling for a cease-fire in Gaza.

All last week the speculation grew that Washington was going to defy its Israeli ally for once and vote for the resolution, but literally as the delegates sat down in the council chamber the phone call came from President George W. Bush ordering Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to abstain.

So nothing will stop Israel from hammering the Gaza Strip as hard as it likes — and the situation is unlikely to change with the inauguration of Barack Obama later this month, because he has no intention of squandering his abundant but finite political capital on a quixotic attempt to bring peace to the Middle East. He will spend it instead on goals that have some chance of being achieved, and he will be right to do so.

Yet the Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip will almost certainly end within the next two weeks. International revulsion at the carnage among Palestinian civilians will play a certain role. Any big loss of life among Israeli soldiers, or the capture of even one or two soldiers, would turn Israeli public opinion against the war overnight. And the clincher is that the Israeli election is on Feb. 10. The war is being fought now largely to shift the opinion polls in favor of the ruling parties before the election. However, it must be over, and somehow look like a success, before Israelis actually vote. Good luck.

The war against Hamas in Gaza looks more and more like the three-week Israeli war against Hezbollah in Lebanon in 2006, which could hardly be called a success. It will last about as long. It will kill about as many Arabs, probably a thousand or so. And it will end with Hamas, like Hezbollah, still able to fire rockets at Israel.

This means that Benjamin Netanyahu, the Likud Party leader who was already leading in the opinion polls, is almost certain to form the next Israeli government. He is the ultimate rejectionist, the man who successfully sabotaged the Oslo Accords and effectively killed the “peace process” during his last term as prime minister in 1996-99.

He rejects the very idea of a “two-state solution” to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Netanyahu is a glib ideologue who does not understand strategy and sees no reason for Israel to seek peace with its neighbors if the price is giving the Palestinians back their pre-1967 borders. In the long run, therefore, the war is more of a disaster for the Israelis than it is for the Palestinians.

Israel currently enjoys three huge strategic advantages. It has the strongest army in the region by far, backed by the only modern economy and the only technologically competent population. It has an absolute monopoly on nuclear weapons within the region. And it has the unstinting, unquestioning support of the world’s only superpower. But none of these advantages is forever, and Israel needs to make peace with its neighbors while it still possesses them.

The existing Arab regimes are willing to make peace with Israel on the basis of the 1967 borders, mainly because they fear the further radicalization of their own populations, and perhaps even violent revolution, if the Israeli-Palestinian conflict continues to fester. But the Arabs as a whole have all the time in the world: Sooner or later the wheel will turn and Israel will become vulnerable. If it has not integrated into the region by then, it will be in mortal peril.

It is the usefulness of this war, not its morality, that Israel should be questioning. Unless Israel re-occupies the Gaza Strip permanently — which nobody wants to do, because it would mean a constant stream of Israeli military casualties — then once the army pulls back Hamas will re-emerge, stronger than ever. The Arab regimes that might make peace with Israel will be further undermined, and Israel gets Netanyahu as prime minister.

As was said after the execution of the Duc d’Enghien on Napoleon’s orders, the Gaza operation “is worse than a crime. It is a mistake.”

Gaza diary: Where is the humanity?

By Mohammed Ali

As the death toll from Israel's war on Gaza continues to climb, Mohammed Ali, an advocacy and media researcher for Oxfam who lives in Gaza City, will be keeping a diary of his feelings and experiences.

Today, I met with people outside the Shifa Hospital in Gaza City. I could not believe the stories I was hearing.

An old man told me he was going blind. His diabetic condition was deteriorating and he needed to be treated quickly so as not to lose his sight. He was turned away; he was not in a severe enough state compared to the people filling the hospital corridors and there were not enough doctors to see to him.

Medical teams cannot cope; doctors are working 24 hour shifts, there are not enough beds, equipment or medicine to deal with this humanitarian crisis.

I am hearing more and more stories of people trapped under rubble - ambulance teams unable to reach them, so they wait to die.

While I was out, one man approached me and asked if I would help him to clear up dead bodies.
Another asked if I worked for a humanitarian organization but before I could answer he looked up at the sky and shouted: ""Where is humanity?""

The situation has now reached such a critical point that doctors frequently confront dilemmas such as whether to treat the child who is bleeding to death or the baby who has severe head injuries.

While doctors ask themselves these tough questions, some politicians continue to debate whether or not we are facing a humanitarian crisis.

Since the Israeli military attacks started on Gaza, no salaries have been received and hardly any one has been able to work. Many people here depend on agricultural farming to make a living, and the Gazan population relies on these farmers to be able to eat vegetables; the blockade is allowing hardly anything in.

No farmer will go to their farmland these days. Like all of us, they fear being killed if they move out of their homes or even if they stay put.

Prices of goods are increasing by the day as they become more and more scarce.
Candles are no longer available; a much-needed item these days given the prolonged power cuts we have to endure. We started to use our torches but the batteries soon ran out and there are no batteries to be found here any more.

--- Same planet, different worlds-----

Every hour, fleeting images from around the world are brought to our TV screens. When I have electricity, I watch these scenes of people enjoying themselves and ask myself, what is the difference between them and me? Why are our lives worlds apart in spite of living on the same planet?

I wonder, are these people asking themselves the same question when they watch the horror unfold in Gaza?

The occupation has put Gaza on a drip feed; we have had just enough to keep us alive but not enough to make us feel as though we are really living - and now this.

If I make it to the end of this conflict, I want to leave the minute I am able to. I do not want my children to grow up in this environment, strangled by the occupation, familiar with the sounds of F-16 fighter jets, unable to leave the country if they need life-saving treatment.
This is not a natural disaster like the Tsunami; this is a man-made disaster that deepens while the world watches.

As the death toll continues to rise, my wife and I spend our waking hours waiting for our turn to come.

Now, at night before trying to sleep I say to her: ""Goodnight my love, see you in heaven.""

Gaza drowning in its own blood

by Linda Heard I sierra12th@yahoo.co.uk

REMEMBER the endless media coverage devoted to one abducted British toddler Madeleine McCann and the outpouring public sympathy in terms of hard cash? Remember the deserved global horror when 186 schoolchildren were murdered by terrorists in the Russian town of Beslan? People everywhere generally experience deep emotion when the life of youngsters is cut short by crime or conflict because they only have to look at their own kids to relate to the tragedy.

Yet when it comes to the children of Palestine many unconsciously channel their empathy — or lack of it — through the prism of their ideological/political affinities. They hear the word “Palestinian” and harden their hearts. Blatantly one-sided resolutions recently passed by the US Congress, which prostrates itself before Israel unconditionally, are good examples. Somehow, the members of the House and Senate are able to cast aside their own humanitarian sensitivities to enhance their standing with the pro-Israel lobby.

Almost 300 of Gaza’s children have been murdered by Israeli bombs and artillery shells. Thousands have been robbed of parents, siblings or limbs. All are severely traumatized by sights and scenes no child should ever have to witness and all are terrified by the sounds of F-16s wondering if this time deadly payloads are marked with their address.

Israeli spokespeople insist they do not target civilians but tiny Gaza is not only the most densely populated area of the world, 51 percent of its population are children.

Just think what would happen were 300 Israeli children to meet a similar fate! Would the UN Security Council take weeks to come up with a mealy-mouthed resolution destined to go unheeded then? And what would be the global reaction to the ramming of an Israeli boat carrying aid, such as the Free Gaza Movement’s vessel “Dignity”, recently forced to limp in to the Lebanese port of Tyre where its contingent of 15 international passengers, including former Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney, received a hero’s welcome?

Would Western television networks and newspapers relegate a Jewish tragedy to sanitized snippets and back pages? Judging from the extensive coverage given to a Palestinian attack on a Jerusalem pizza parlor in 2001 that killed 15, the answer is a firm “no”.

Israel says it is carrying out surgical strikes against Hamas militants but the fire hitting Gaza’s shoreline emanating from Israeli gunboats cannot discriminate and neither can tank shells, mortars, cluster bombs and white phosphorus. If we accept that Israel’s strikes are precise, then we must also accept the Jewish state has committed serious war crimes by bombing clearly marked ambulances, hospitals, schools and UN-run civilian refuges.

No wonder Israel has barred foreign journalists, activists and medics from entering Gaza. It does not want third-party witnesses recording its crimes or negating its weasel words carefully crafted by expert propagandists, such as Israel’s ambassador to Britain Ron Prosser and spokesman to the prime minister’s office Mark Regev — both working overtime to push the same rarely-challenged lies.

There is no doubt that the so-called international community treats Palestinians as second- or even third-class citizens without the right to freedom and access to basic human needs. Western countries and others have collaborated in subjecting Gaza to an 18-month-long siege that under international law is tantamount to a declaration of war. They have also stood by silently allowing Israel to continue its settlement expansion, land grabs and construction of an apartheid wall, ruled illegal by the International Court of Justice.

Plus, the United Nations which was responsible for Israel’s birth has not been effective in protecting Palestinian rights or upholding 35 of its own resolutions against Israel.
Many nations have designated the Palestinian resistance as “terrorist” although an occupied population has the right to self-determination under the UN Charter.

It’s absolutely true that some of the methods used by Palestinian resistance groups have been unpalatable in that civilians have been deliberately targeted in the way that Israel is doing now despite its shrill cries to the contrary.

The fact that the IAF bombed a UN school after receiving the coordinates and a house filled with displaced civilians it had told to flee exposes any pretense Israel may have to morality. And to compound its ruthlessness, Israel prevented rescue workers and ambulances from reaching the scene for four days when starving toddlers still clinging to the corpses of their mothers were discovered. Deprived of sophisticated weaponry, stripped of their rights under international law and the Geneva Conventions, besieged by the international community, blamed by the US for their own victimhood and virtually abandoned by fellow-Arabs, the Palestinians are shamefully left to starve, suffer and die.

Lastly, I would send the following message to Israel with apologies to Shakespeare for mangling The Merchant of Venice: “Hath not a Palestinian hands, organs, dimensions, senses, affections, passions, fed with the same food, hurt with the same weapons, subject to the same diseases, healed by the same means, warmed and cooled by the same winter and summer, as a Jew is? If you prick us, do we not bleed? If you tickle us, do we not laugh? If you poison us, do we not die? And if you wrong us, do we not revenge? If we are like you in the rest, we will resemble you in that”.
On Celcom broadband a 'Malaysia Boleh' let-down

from Mkini.

Well, Celcom..you gotta improve alot..

SC Chan: As an occasional Celcom wireless broadband subscriber, I agree with the writer's comments. If I could use a layman's term to describe why there are so many dissatisfied customers, it is that the Internet service that is presently available works like an overloaded 1.5 cc Proton Saga - seven or eight passengers packed into a five-seater car.It doesn't really run - it drags because of the overload.Similarly, if the Internet service providers keep on selling the products without actually improving the supporting infrastructure and the capacity at the international gateways, what you will get in terms of service is what we are experiencing now.

For my home, I subscribe to a TM Net Streamy service and although I am quite happy with the speed, my greatest disappointment is that I can never actually access YouTube or download movies. In Korea I am told, one can download a movie in 15 to 20 minutes whereas here in Malaysia it will take a few days! What kind of Internet service are we providing in this country? In Korea Internet operates at 16M, Japan 20M but in Malaysia 2M. Malaysia Boleh?

Some time ago, The Ministry (under Dr.Lim ex-Gerakan President) said it has spend certain millions to set up our own internet hub or server... what has happen?

Honest Vs Ugly

This post by 5xmom is a good one..

Making money honestly versus making money with bullshits

Extract :
"Some photoshopped their income. Some boasted they made 400% more with some new program but that 400% only adds up to USD14. *slaps forehead* Then, some claimed they make thousands and yet, I don’t see what workable things they are doing."...

Well this is common, sometimes we can hardly tell which people is fake...we just need to be carefull...

triggering purchase online

Making a purchase online, especially a substantial one, can be a nerve-wracking process for a consumer. The primary problem, aside from price, is trust. Shoppers negotiate their relationship with the vendor in much the same way they negotiate relationships with any stranger: by seeking information.

Trust makes all the difference, especially because trust becomes loyalty. Are there other ways to build trust and loyalty with customers?

What an online vendor lacks (and what becomes a disadvantage) is one-on-one interaction with the customer. As such, the customer must put forth additional effort to find out about a product for sale. Making this task easier can make all the difference in closing a sale.

An online retailer should strive to answer these customer questions ahead of time to reduce purchase anxiety:

1.Quality of the product
2.Quality and reliability of your customer service
3.Will the item arrive on time?
4.Will the product be as described or as appears on screen? Is it the right color or size?
5.Will it fit? Is this item true to size?
6.What if the product needs to be returned?
7.Is this site secure (privacy, credit card information)?
8.Is this really the best price? Answering these questions can lead to more sales.

According to one survey, 76 percent of respondents cited insufficient product information as a reason not to purchase, 79 percent rarely or never purchase with incomplete information, and 72 percent will abandon a site for a competitor or further research, usually finding the product elsewhere.

The top ten aspects of the online purchase process rated as "very important" to consumers reflected just two prime consumer motivations: gathering information and customer support. The top five, in this order were Product Overview, Merchant's Guarantee, Stock Availability, Quality of Image, Customer Service Links.

Consumers want complete specs, and they want to know the online vendor will be there for them if something goes wrong. This isn't unusual human behavior, of course. Communication scholars love to toss about Uncertainty Reduction Theory, which has been around for over 30 years.

According to this theory, humans follow a predictable pattern of information gathering when they encounter a stranger. Uncertainty about the stranger causes anxiety and distrust, and so seeking out information is a natural way of decreasing uncertainty and anxiety, and of building trust.

E-tailers, then, need to build trust by making sure information is available and easily accessed. Without face-to-face interaction and without the ability to compensate for that lack with complete information, the customer isn't going to risk doing business.
